slow progress

in my studio today.

despite a little sunshine today, they forecast more and more rain.
I am dreaming of a pair of these to walk around the house.. they seem perfect for this kind of weather.

bed and breakfast

this time instead of waking up at some ungodly hour to get to Gatwick airport on time
for our morning flight we decided to spend a couple of nights in a b&b nearby.
Again, the weather was decidedly against us but the big house was lovely and our hosts very kind.

...having a big house means that sometime you forget where you put all the clean laundry
to be ironed... in the wardrobe in our bedroom!

Back Home

We spend a long "holiday" in the UK with my mother in law - who was in hospital -
so I am afraid not much wandering around or visiting places.
Also, the weather wasn't exactly helping us, but we've been lucky not to be flooded and we even enjoyed a few mornings or afternoons with clears skies and beautiful colours.
I look forward to going back soon - and I hope my MIL will be better too. It's been a tough period.

I hope 2014 will bring lovely thing to us all.

green

if you know me, you know that I don't do green.
Teal, aquamarine, pale turquoise, even celadon, yes.
But not green.
It was time to get out of my comfort-colour zone so I put on a green warp
(I admit I couldn't resist and put some teal in it, just a little)
and wove it with a red/orange/pink weft.
It's so iridescent!

back to the loom - the weather has been so dark and gloomy that I needed a dose of bright colour.
this one I think I will keep - made with leftovers in tones of pink/red/orange - and white of course.
Isn't it nice when leftover yarn turns into something soft and wearable?

the last photo - a wooden mask with bright pink cheeks -  was from an exhibition on traditional wooden masks
of Krampus in Bolzano that we saw when we were there last time.
I just like the shape and colours of it - the ushers at the museum told us that some people refused to enter the rooms
where the collection of masks was on display because they found them frightening!
