finally Dicembre

I just finished a small collection of lightweight scarves -
I made a prototype a while ago and I've been wearing it to see
how it would withstand some wear and tear.
The warp is a fine 2/56 cashmere/silk blend with silk selvedges and the weft is 2/30 linen.
The thing is, with such fine yarn I wanted a strong structure - hence the plain weave -
but also some element to make it crisp and add some degree of stiffness
- and here comes the linen yarn -
After wearing it for a while, the cashmere/silk blend developed a bit of nap,
which is definitely nice and adds warmth.
The scarves are quite big - 41 x 226 cm excluding fringes - so plenty of fabric to wrap into.
I am pleased by the results!

Yesterday afternoon there was the most dramatic sky ever -
beautiful colours - and a couple of small tornadoes along the coast as well

mock up rug

on one of my numerous wanderings on the internet I found this rug
I really like the colours and the patchwork of patterns
and I'd like to hang it in our entrance
but then I thought - what if after a while I get tired of such bold design? -
so for now we have a full scale paper rug hanging in its place
just to see the effect

I already want the real one!

thrifting

it's been a long while since I last found something in the thrift shop
this time I was lucky and I found a nice sewing box on wheels that I can move around!

Also, today I received a lovely postcard from Meg (thank you!)
with her beautiful pillars - you can see them in full length here -

I wish I could see them in real life...for the moment I am keeping the postcard on the wall ;-)
