_ _ _ _ _ _ ||_,

Over the weekend, inspired by this program, I decided to have a go at making
a little top for my niece with a piece of Liberty fabric.
I discovered the magical world of shirring with elastic thread
and I had to try it for the sleeves! Now I need more fabric...

O

on a happy note, I dyed some wool-cashmere yarn and I hope that the image of the scarf
I have in my mind will actually come to reality.
Sometimes this doesn't happen at all - but then it's ok, as I get unexpected results
that are interesting or even exciting - or I just get a boo-boo (in which case you'll never see it...!)

paper flowers

After seeing the most fabulous bunch of paper flowers in a shop window,
me and my sister decided to go and learn how to make them.
I cannot remember when was the last time we actually took the time to do something crafty together;
we really enjoyed it and I hope we'll make some more very soon!

The lovely lady who taught us explained that we can use all sorts of natural dyes for the paper
- so I suppose it's time I got my dyeing equipment out!

window display

Liliana is the lady who runs my favourite wool shop.
She lets me have fun with the window display -
so this time I made a sort of "virtual loom" with the aid of three wooden rigid heddles
suspended with nylon thread.
I like how they seem to float in mid-air!

So for the next couple of weeks this is what you are going to see if you happen to visit
the historic centre of Genova, or the caruggi as they say here in dialect.

...and yes, the scarves are my lightweight cashmere/silk/linen ones!
