Kawakawa

Did you know that the painter and artist Hundertwasser moved to New Zealand where he lived until his death? I always loved his paintings and used him as inspiration for the Double Weave project when in Bradford, so of course we had to go and see the only project he realized in NZ, in the village of Kawakawa.

The project was, uhm, the public toilets. I love the glass panelling made with recycled bottles!

I didn't know he had gone to New Zealand, but I do remember your gorgeous doubleweave project! Those toilets are stunning - but wouldn't they make people linger, and cause queues to get uncomfortably long??

The most famous amongst our famous public loos. I drove past this several times, but never been in it!

Cally, AND take photos, too!

Yes, it was fun - you didn't know whether people were queuing to go the toilet or to take some photos!
Ladies were laughing inside the cubicles, it was the weirdest stop to a toilet ever!
