while searching for a copper pot in the thrift shop I stumbled upon a small collection of carpet beaters.
I just couldn't leave them there!(this must have something to do with a recent obession with all types of basket weaving)

What are they made of, Doni? They remind me of old futon beaters, which were made of bamboo, but they came in only one design that I could remember...
I couldn't have left these behind either...they're so beautiful!
Meg, they're made of cane - and I think they're the same as futon beaters, only with different shapes
(my gran used to have one - and I am planning to steal my mother in law's soon...)
Beating futon used to be my fav "housework" when I was little and helping my mother. Now you make me curious about whether there are still bamboo ones on the market, or if they've all been "converted" to plastics.
One of them came in handy when I was putting away the winter duvet after washing it!
I've seen the plastic beaters but the original cane ones are a lot better in my opinion ;-)
