walnut brown

a few skeins I recently dyed with walnuts - one is pure cashmere,
one is a cashmere-silk blend and the third one is llama.
They were in the same dyebath but the colours are slightly different - interesting.

Ahhhh, yum yum, those familiar browns. I can never thank you enough for pointing my attention to walnut dying, Doni.

Thank you ladies!
Dyeing with walnuts is rewarding indeed! It doesn't require mordanting of the skeins before dyeing and the colours are so warm.

Meg, this time I used both green walnuts from the tree and those that were on the ground already starting to go brown. On the recipe it says to use 100% green walnuts - that is, 100g of walnuts to dye 100g of yarn - but I always exceed the walnut quantity, and use the remaining dyebath for other skeins until it is exhausted.
