the first snow

welcome November!

on the last day of October...

...I am counting the rings of our pine trees.
It is sad to see them go but they were too high and too close to the house
and they are now felling them one by one...

simple recipe for a pair of earrings

take a pair of little lace doilies
if they are not the colour you like, you can dye them  (I dyed mine blue)
mix 1 tbsp vinyl glue and 1 tbsp water in a shallow glass jar
then dip the doilies, one at a time, making sure they are well covered in glue
remove any excess glue and place them to dry on a non-stick surface (glass is perfect)
wait until perfectly dry, then add a little pearl and earring hooks.
Voilà!

where we bought a lovely blanket for my niece

Kloster Neustift

We're back!
three weeks in the mountains without internet connection or television and almost no phone network...
now, this was a REAL holiday!

we visited some wonderful places - this is one of them - a wine trip to Abbazia di Novacella

cross stitch patterns

speaking of aunts again....

a few years back, when we had to empty my great-aunt's house, I kept everything textile-related,
from buttons to bed linen, to emboidery books and so on.
This is an old booklet with some very nice cross-stitch patterns that I finally scanned:
